What to know…
Potential and current clients often ask me what the difference is between a mini photo session vs. a full photo session, when they’re available and why someone would choose one over another. This is a great question, and there are differences and similarities.
PACKAGE PRICE vs EXPENSES
A mini session allows a professional photographer to reduce the prices of their packaging during busy periods only, in order to serve, reach and deliver to a larger client base at a lower rate with similar deliverables.
To make this viable from a business perspective, locations and times are pre-set by the photographer and allow multiple sessions to take place in one day at one location. This way the photographer is at the same location all day and does not incur expenses of traveling to client requested locations (see Full Session details) thereby reducing the package fee.
For Full Sessions we travel to our clients selected location specifically for them.
SESSION TIMES
A family mini session lasts exactly 30 - 45 minutes. When shooting mini sessions, we start and end promptly, as there are clients before and after you waiting for their session. We buffer our sessions and are very organized so that each mini session is still private.
Full family sessions last approximately an hour or a little more and are based on different locations and larger packages.
WARDROBE CHANGES
With the limited time of a Mini Session, there are no wardrobe changes.
With full sessions you have the option of wardrobe changes.
IMAGES + DIGITAL DOWNLOADS
Our images are always delivered in your beautiful private online gallery where you can select, download your digital images anywhere in the world.
With mini sessions we will cover the basic family shots focussing on the family portrait and a few shots of the kids separate and together. Your gallery selections are limited.
With full sessions we focus on the family portrait, each child individually, children together, parents each with children, parents separately, parents together, generational pictures. Your gallery selection is not as limited as the mini session.
With a mini sessions you’ll receive 5 to 8 (dependent on family size) digital downloads to select from your beautiful edited gallery. Additional image purchases are available.
Full Sessions receive 10 - 20 digital downloads (dependent on family size) to select from your beautiful edited gallery. Additional image purchase is available.
